20 years ago, it was more an exception than the rule to meet the timeless, colourful tribes of Southern Ethiopia and although more accessible today it is still an exceptional experience.

Our goal is to enable you to capture the beauty and diversity of the landscapes by getting in amongst the people. To do this you have to go off the beaten track and spend time with the different tribes, something that normal tourist tours cannot do during their hectic schedules.

Each tour will start and end in Arba Minch and from there will go on to visit Guge Mountains (Dorzy tribe), Konso (Unesco World Heritage), Lower Omo Valley (Jinka & Turmi with many tribes such as Hamer, Banna, Mursi, etc..). Google these locations to see the stunning beauty that awaits the photographer.

Working with only natural tools and textiles you will see that these people design and make unique fashions that could influence or even rival the avant garde look of Haute Couture Fashion Weeks around the world. The challenge to the photographer however is that they only don these elegant clothes on few days of the year. Our tours have the flexibility that we can move schedules be at the right spot at the right time to capture these magical moments. This means that every tour is unique.

In Southern Ethiopia people expect payment when they are photographed and this can make the event a superficial fancy-dress show. As photographers you want to capture the spontaneity of the moment . Our local guides work with the local tribes so that you can mix with the people and shoot in a completely relaxed and fun environment away from the limelight of the typical tourist displays.  To enhance the experience with the local people we will spend at least 1 night with a local family who will be happy to help you photograph the day to day life in Ethiopia.

Our tours will be organised in collaboration with Nile Ethiopia Tours, a local agency with many years of local tourism experience, and guided by the very knowledgeable and helpful  Natnael Tewodrose Habta. 'Nati' to all his friends.

Nati is a photographer himself and so understands your needs. He  is very much appreciated by his customers for his ability to quickly respond to client’s needs,  his flexible approach with the local people to get you into the best position to take that special shot at the right time.  With Nati you are in the best hands.
